Subject: WCTU National Competition

To all concerned:

I’m afraid I have some bad news…

After grueling personal debate, I’ve decided to bow out of the WCTU National Speech Competition. The main reason, as most of you are aware, is that my daughter is due to be born that same week. I can’t take the chance that the birth will come at a time when I am on the other side of the country. Also, I have been offered a position at work that allows me to work at home. The top brass is showing a great deal of excitement over me, and I want to help maintain that by being available. This means that I’m currently working 2 jobs for=2 the same company. Finally, I’m sure you are all aware that there are a lot of domestic chores for me in the coming month. All of this adds up to a wonderful time in my life. So I hope you can all forgive me for dropping out.

Those of you who know me are familiar with my competitive spirit and passion for the topic. I made my final decision yesterday, after delaying the inevitable for a week, when deciding whether to mail my info packet or not. It was a tough decision, but I couldn’t justify including the competition in my life at this time.

I would like to thank the WCTU for this opportunity, and the work you do. And you should know that a large part of my new position will involve Blog writing. So I intend to get the message of abstinence out through my writings.

Again, I apologize for the last-minute notice.
